Author of the thesis: ‘Exploring Word Recognition and Listening Comprehension Abilities of Children with Autism who are Non-verbal’ with many years experience in supporting children with Additional Learning Needs (ALN/SEN).

Overall, results in this thesis have consistently shown that once the requirement for verbalisation is removed from a reading test, non-speaking autistic children can demonstrate skills in both the area of word identification and listening comprehension
